Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold Phone Leaked via One UI 8 Animations – Launch Expected Soon

Samsung may have unintentionally revealed details of its first tri-fold smartphone through hidden animations in the latest One UI 8 update, fueling excitement around an imminent launch.

The latest software update contains animations showing a unique multi-fold design, distinct from Samsung’s current Galaxy Z Fold and Flip models. According to reports from Android Authority, these animations depict a device folding in a G-shape with two inward hinges, creating a compact, triple-panel phone. One panel shows a triple-lens camera setup, the middle houses a front camera and display, while the third panel appears display-free, likely designed to seal the fold.

This G-shaped fold resembles Samsung Display’s earlier “Flex G” prototype and differs from Huawei’s S-shaped tri-fold, which uses an outward hinge. The animations highlight asymmetric hinges, possibly to reduce screen pressure when closed. A warning within the software advises users to avoid folding the camera side first, indicating a delicate folding mechanism.

The animation files reference “Multifold 7,” likely an internal code name. Industry sources speculate the device could launch as the “Galaxy G Fold.” Samsung has not officially confirmed these details, though previous teasers have hinted at more advanced foldable designs.

According to South Korean outlet The Bell, mass production of the tri-fold phone is set to begin in September 2025, suggesting a release between October and December. Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked event on July 9 will showcase the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Flip FE, all featuring traditional fold-in-half designs. The tri-fold may appear briefly but is expected to launch later this year.

These One UI 8 animations offer Samsung’s clearest hint yet that a tri-fold smartphone is on the horizon, potentially expanding its foldable lineup into new territory.
